Wing bolts provide more leverage than spade-head thumb screws for greater torque while tightening. Length is measured from under the head.
Use them for fender strut attachment, or other low weight stuff. They are NOT strong enough for use with racks. They'll also work as replacements for the stock d-rings on Rivendell and Dia-Compe bar end shifters.
